precarious lives: inequalities and covid
The current pandemic exposes longstanding and persistent inequalities worldwide. My photographs explore the impact of the inequalities that are visible in the streets of a locality in North London. The confinement, despair, isolation, and vulnerability of individuals who are most disadvantaged are highlighted. The poster is fragile, barely surviving the tug of the elements; it is a testament to how much has been so generously offered and provided by those who may have least to give and who are, often, at most risk themselves. The paintings of rainbows express gratitude to the NHS for its care. But its staff do not receive the salaries that are vital to sustain them. Many of them are dying.
